WHAT OUR CLIENT WANTED - They want to gut renovate their master and family bathrooms that share a common wall. They especially want to address a bad layout in the master bath and a very small and awkward tub in the family bath.

We recommended renovating them at the same time, retaining existing plumbing locations, which reduced costs. The master bathroom was updated with a new deep soaking tub, pebble-floored shower (instant reflexology!) a long vanity counter, and a hidden storage closet that neatly disguises an awkward bulkhead. A soothing white, cream, and aqua color palette, clean-lined fixtures, antique makeup table, and board-and-batten-style walls completed the Nantucket beach cottage look the homeowners desired.

The goal for the second was to create a bathroom with a “hip and energetic vibe” for a pre-teen boy to use into his teens and beyond. The old-fashioned tiled tub and curtain were replaced with a shower enclosed in a frameless glass door, opening up the bathroom visually, while the bright green geometric-patterned tiles turned the bench into a fun focal point, disguising the bulkhead beneath as an added bonus. This little bathroom scored big with the judges, garnering the “First Place Best of Best” award in the 2009 NKBA Metropolitan Design Competition.
